The United States Marine Memorial is located on Marshall Drive, not too far from Arlington National Cemetery, in Washington, DC.
The United States Marine Memorial is also known as the Iwo Jima Memorial. It was dedicated on November 11, 1954 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, and it is dedicated to the memory of all Marines who have died while defending the United States of America. It is the largest bronze statue in the world. The statue is based on a Pulitzer Prize winning photo taken by Joe Rosenthal in 1945 during World War II on the island of Iwo Jima.
