R. Remlinger sent me the following e-mail about Sacred Heart Cemetery:

Sacred Heart Cemetery is located in Oscoda, Michigan, just off of Lake Huron, on the North Eastern shore of the lower peninsula, Iosco County. The cemetery is still used. Many of the older headstones are very difficult to read; the harsh northern Michigan winters have taken their toll. Also, there are a lot of brightly colored molds and mosses that attach themselves to the gravestones, making them difficult to read. Many WWI, WWII, Vietnam, and Korean veterans are buried there. Oscoda, a hunting and fishing cabin community for many years, used to be the home of Wurthsmith Air Force Base, which closed in 1993. Sacred Heart shares the same location with Pinecrest Cemetery. When entering the cemetery area, Sacred Heart is to the right, Pinecrest to the left.
