Old Salem Cemetery is located on the south side of Old Salem Road, between Riddle Hill Road and South Old Covered Bridge Lane, outside Springfield, Illinois (Gardner Township, Sangamon County). The coordinates are 39° 47' 35" N, 89° 46' 0" W.

Old Salem Cemetery was established in 1834, and it is still active. The oldest gravestones are located on the southwest side, and most are in great condition. The cemetery is very well maintained by the township.
