Mark Smith sent me the following information about the Prouty gravestone at Pine Grove Cemetery:

These pictures were taken at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Spencer, Massachusetts. They are of the Prouty Family graves. You can read quick blurbs about Spencer and the cemetery on the Shadowlands Haunted Places Index - Massachusetts: http://theshadowlands.net/places/massachusetts.htm.

Here are two quotes from that website:

1) Spencer - Pine Grove Cemetery - This is haunting grounds for one who is known to some as the Dark Hunter, his ghostly form abides it's time there, waiting and watching as people wander past.

2) Prouty Mansion - Formerly listed under Spencer - Maria Prouty was murdered here by her husband. The murder was ruled a suicide. The reason was found out years later. The story is long and complex with more twists and turns than most works of fiction. Read the book Deliver us From Evil by two local couples who researched the crime for more details.

I'll spare you the long and complex story of the Prouty murders, but I encourage you to look them up if you have time. Although the book was rather amateurish, the story was intriguing none-the-less. (A link about the book = Deliver Us from Evil - Boutillette, Linda K.; Burdett, Marilyn J.)

Unfortunately, we did not see the Dark Hunter but we did find the Prouty Family stones. And although Maria Prouty was murdered over 100 years ago, people still leave rocks, pennies, crystals, seashells, etc..., on her grave. There is also a close-up of the Prouty Family Stone, which shows the Alpha and Omega symbol.

The picture of the Prouty Family stone in the book shows a bright "orb"-like object towards the lower, center of the stone. As you can see in my pictures that object does not exist. The picture in the book was taken in the 1980s by the author so I cannot explain what the blemish is, nor does the author mention it.
