Diane G. sent me the following information about Oakwood Cemetery:

Oakwood Cemetery is located at 50 101st Street in Troy, NY. Since 1848 this nonsectarian rural cemetery has become the final resting place for many Americans, such as the famous, "Uncle Sam." Several other influential men and women have made Oakwood their final resting place. Oakwood Cemetery is one of America's larger rural cemeteries, overlooking 100 miles of the Hudson Valley and the heart of Troy in upstate New York. There is a 100 mile beautiful overlook of the Hudson Valley. There are two chapels located in the cemetery, one which houses 95 bodily remains within the floor, it was established for the Warren family in 1860. Second, the Crematorium and Chapel of Gardner Earl, erected in 1890 by his parents, it is amazing...it looks like a large castle with gargoyles and large Tiffany stained glass windows. The chapel is in much need of expensive repairs and the establishment is looking for donations. There are also four manmade lakes within the land. Two houses also are a part of the property: the Lower Gatehouse, a Queen Anne Victorian 1884 building which houses the cemetery office and an apartment upstairs for the superintendent of grounds, and the Upper Gatehouse, or "Keeper’s House," which is the home of the Administrator and family. It was built in 1861. I highly recommend a visit to anyone looking for anything between just splendid beauty to the paranormal. Many ghosts stories surround this property. Ranging from horrific screaming, having your shoe laces tied together, a little girl asking to help find her mommy, to just a shadowy person that just follows you around peeking behind the trees and stones, and on occasion comes right up to you.

Personal experience, my daughter (9) and I were standing on the stairs of Russell Sages's unmarked Mausoleum, and in between the two of us, we heard a woman humming very clearly. Neither one of us became scared, it was actually quite calming and exciting to us both. I have gone back on a couple of occasions now, and there is always something new. Luckily for me, it is less than 5 minutes away. I have so many more pictures from this site unfortunately I can not place all of them, if anyone would like to see more just e-mail me at naprincess3@aol. If you google most of these names will you find information about the occupants of Oakwood Cemetery.
