The Derby House is located at 168 Derby Street in Salem, Massachusetts. It is part of the Salem Maritime National Historic Site, which was the very first historic site maintained by the National Park System.
The Derby House was built in 1762 by Richard Derby as a wedding gift to his son, Elias Hasket Derby, and his wife, Elizabeth Crowninshield. Elias Hasket Derby was America's first millionaire, he made his money in the trading business. The house is the oldest brick home in Salem.
