Chris Kinney sent me the following information about Keen Cemetery:
Location: Keen Cemetery, Duette, Manatee County, Florida
Information regarding the photos:
- Photo 1: The entrance to the cemetery, note the orange trees in the background.
- Photo 2: Chancey Grave, note the clam shells shaped in the form of a cross.
- Photo 3: One of the oldest graves in the cemetery, Jacob Keen, a veteran of the Seminole Wars.
- Photo 4: Looking towards the back of the cemetery, note the orange groves and the live oaks with Spanish moss. The tombstones are a bit plain, but the location is very peaceful, and much like it was a hundred years ago.
- Photo 5: Another shell grave.
- Photo 6: View of the cemetery from the entrance.
- Photo 7: An example of a very plain tombstone, where the name and dates appear to be scratched out on the stone.
- Photo 8: An example of one of the finer tombstones.
- Photo 9: Chancey grave.
