Cate S. sent me the following information about the Old Athens Cemetery:

I believe this is Athens, Georgia's original cemetery. It was started back in the early 1800's. The oldest stone I could find was of a girl who was born in 1812, died 1815. Of course, some graves had to be moved when the cemetery became overcrowded [That is how Oconee Hill Cemetery got started]. The Conger family plot is believed to be haunted. People have said they felt cold and the feeling of not being alone at times when they knew they were. Right now it's being cleaned up due to the fact that it is falling apart and partying kids don't give much help to its condition.
