Adam Maroney sent me the following information about the Kansas Cemetery:

This cemetery was first used for the burial of slaves in the 1830's and has been used as recently as the late 1990's. It is located near a truck stop and is in very bad condition with most of the graves being unmarked. The cemetery is located on a hill, but the view of it is obstructed by the dense vegetation. I have visited it several times and am now in the process of writing a historical survey of the African American community that once existed around it. I took all of these photos on my digital camera in June 2006.

The cemetery is known as "Kansas Cemetery" even though there is no sign. It is also known as the "Elm Grove Cemetery" and the "Doom Negro Graveyard" (named so after the Doom Family who had slaves buried there and have a well kept and bright caucasian cemetery directly across the road).
